Volatility as an asset class

VMware (VMW) is recently up $3.82 to $115.10 after reporting strong Q1 results. May call option implied volatility is at 33, July at 35; below its 26-week average of 41.
 
Cypress Semi (CY) is recently up $1.80 to $16.10 after releasing better than expected Q1 results and dividend increase. May and September call option implied volatility of 39 is below its 26-week average of 45.

Stanley Black & Decker (SWK) is recently down $4.49 to $74.02 on the company seeing FY12 EPS $5.75-$6.00, consensus $5.87. May and July put option implied volatility of 27 is below its 26-week average of 34.
 
eBay (EBAY) is recently up $4.72 to $40.60 after reporting Q1 revenue of $3.28B, compared to consensus estimate of $3.15B. May and July put option implied volatility of 33 is near its 26-week average of 34.
 
U.S. equities are mixed to lower a day on solid corporate results and concens about Spains rising cost of capital.
 
CBOE Volatility Index-VIX up 1c to 18.65 on volume of 199K contracts.
