Options as a volatility class:

FedEx (FDX) is down $2.44 to $85.10 in the premarket after cutting its outlook. Overall option implied volatility of 26 is near its 26-week average.
DeVry (DV), at $19,20, approved a $100M share repurchase program. Overall option implied volatility of 47 is above its 26-week average of 41.
Finisar (FNSR) is down 32c to $13.20 in the premarket after reporting Q1 EPS 12c, consensus was 14c. Overall option implied volatility of 67 is above its 26-week average of 61.
CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) closed at 17.98. VIX closed above its 10-day moving average of 16.44 and its 50-day MA of 16.87.
