Blogging Options: CBOE Morning Update

Ceradyne (CRDN) is recently up $10.46 to $34.90 after 3M (MMM) announced its acquiring the company for $35 per share. Overall option implied volatility of 37 is near its 26-week average.
Transocean (RIG) is recently up $1.46 to $46.35 after the company said a Brazilian court partially suspended a ban which allows the company to continue operations in Brazil. Overall option implied volatility of 38 is near its 26-week average of 39.

CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) closed at 15.73. VIX closed above its 10-day moving average of 14.76 and below its 50-day MA of 15.94.

U.S. stocks are higher. Commodities mixed in pre-market, except precious metals – Gold up 1%, Silver up 2%. European stocks rise, but economic news this morning shows German and Fraench economies could be dragged into a recession. European Unemployment at record level. Three Asian markets closed today, unsure if those countries preparing for Bears – Cowboys on MNF. Big US economic data later this week.
