November VIX Futures Volume on Record Pace

VIX futures experienced another very strong day with 177,060 contracts changing hands today at the CBOE Futures Exchange. November is shaping up to be a record volume month with average daily volume in VIX futures at 147,093 contracts over 13 trading days this month. This is a huge number compared to the average daily volume record set in September at 126,344 contracts a day. The record for the most total volume traded in a month is October 2012 when 2,443,878 contracts changed hands. Total volume in November is currently at 1,912,204, which is 531,674 short of a record month. There are eight more trading days left in November (if we include the short Friday session this week after Thanksgiving). Needless to say, November is shaping up to be a month where both records may be broken.
