April marks the 40th anniversary of CBOE and the options industry. As part of our month-long anniversary celebration, we revisit WGN’s Orion Samuelson’s interviews with several long-time CBOE traders who share their colorful stories about life in the pits and trading “The Chicago Way.”
With an annual paycheck of $20,000 and a young family to support, stockbroker Tom Brady couldn’t afford a $10,000 seat at CBOE. As luck would have it, he found his way to CBOE when his brokerage firm tapped him to broker orders at the exchange. Brady remembers being part of a group of “kids” in their twenties who were building the listed options business from what previously was an arcane cash put-and-call business.
Be sure to visit the CBOE 40 hub daily as new Trader Talk interviews will be added throughout the month.
