Volatility as an asset class

Shutterfly (SFLY) is down $0.32 to $44.58 after Q1 revenues grew 28%. May call option implied volatility is at 34, June is at 33, September is at 35; compared to its 26-week average of 45.

Generac (GNRC) is up $3.44 to $38.20 after raising its sales outlook and proposing a special cash dividend of up to $5 per share. May call option implied volatility is at 30, June is at 28, August and November is at 31; compared to its 26-week average of 42.

Gilead (GILD) is higher by $2.75 to $52.89 after announcing plans to start a Phase 3 hepatitis study. May call option implied volatility is at 34, June is at 31, July is at 29; compared to its 26-week average of 28.

CBOE S&P 500 2% OTM BuyWrite Index (BXY) is up 5.40 to 1293.20, above its 10-day moving average of 1285.12 and its 50-day moving average of 1266.91.
