Volatility as an asset class

Tesla Motors (TSLA) is up $2.52 to $117.72 after saying has received hundreds of orders for Model S sedan in Hong Kong. July call option implied volatility is at 56, August is at 73, September is at 65; above its 26-week average of 48.

Lululemon (LULU) is down $1.27 to $63.34 after Chairman and founder Dennis Wilson filed to sell 3.4M shares. July call option implied volatility is at 35, August is at 37, September is at 39, December is at 38; compared to its 26-week average of 39.

CBOE Gold ETF Volatility Index (GVZ) is recently up 1.76 % to $29.01, near its 10-day moving average of 29.08.


CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) is down 0.51 to 15.61. VIX July 15 and 16 puts are active on total option volume of 171K contacts at the CBOE.

S&P 100 Options (OEX) is up $4.38 to $729.86 giving up 1/3 of early gains, on the U.S. posting much better-than-expected job growth in June and prior months were revised sharply higher.

10-year above 2.70%,  Oil above $102 again, Gold falls $35 to ~$1217.  Ag’s lower with mild, wet weather in the midwest.   Alcoa kicks off earnings season Monday.
