Volatility as an asset class

3D Systems (DDD) is recently up $4.08 to $84.21 after the 3D content to print solutions provider had its price target raised to $90 from $69 at BofA/Merrill.  November weekly call option implied volatility is at 66, December is at 53, January is at 49, February is at 49; compared to its 26-week average of 51.

Nvidia (NVDA) is recently down 32c to $15.85 after the chip company was downgraded to Underweight from Equal Weight at Morgan Stanley. November weekly call option implied volatility is at 26, December is at 25, January is at 23; compared to its 26-week average of 30.

Boeing (BA) is recently up $2.71 to $138.80 after launching 777X program at Dubai Airshow with over $95B in agreements. Overall option implied volatility of 22 is near its 26-week average of 23.

Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJX) is recently up 46c to $160.09, another record high, as U.S. Treasury’s pullback to one-week lows. Overall option implied volatility of 10 is near its 26-week average of 11.

iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures (VXX) are recently down 99c to 45.04.

S&P 100 Options (OEX) is recently up $1.14 to 803.26 on a continuation of last week’s rally.
