Volatility as an asset class

Medtronic (MDT) is recently down 43c to $57.88 on Q2 sales rose 2.4% to $4.19B. December call option implied volatility is at 13, January is at 14, February is at 15; compared to its 26-week average of 19.

TJX (TJX) is up 62c to $63.11 after the discount retailer reported Q3 earnings rose 35% as same store sales continued to grow. December call option implied volatility is at 19, January and April is at 18; compared to its 26-week average of 21.

Campbell Soup (CPB) is recently down $2.49 to $39.32 after Q1 earnings fell 30% and reduced guidance. December, January and February call option implied volatility of 16 is a below its 26-week average of 19.

Tesla Motor (TSLA) is recently up $5.36 to $126.10 after the NHTSA said it would launch an investigation into Tesla car fires.  November weekly call option implied volatility is at 81, December is at 61, January is at 61; compared to its 26-week average.

CBOE DJIA BuyWrite Index (BXD) is recently up 12c to 249.70, above its 50-day moving average of 244.95. http://www.cboe.com/micro/bxd/

iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures (VXX) are recently up 8c to 47.12.

S&P 100 Options (OEX) is recently up 86c to 801 as investors continue to rotate into stocks from bonds.
