Volatility as an asset class

Youku Tudou (YOKU) is recently up $3.23 to $34.10 after Chinese online video site reported better than expected Q4 results. March call option implied volatility is at 51, April is at 48, June is at 52, September is at 54; compared to its 26-week average of 59.

Monster Beverage (MNST) is recently up after the energy beverage company reported Q4 sales that beat estimates.  March call option implied volatility is at 29, April is at 28, June and September is at 29; compared to its 26-week average of 35.

United Continental (UAL) is recently down $1.07 to $45.48 after the airline cut its first quarter passenger revenue per available seat mile. March, April and June call option implied volatility of 37 is below its 26-week average of 40.
