Inventories & JOLTS later this morning.  Stock futures flat to modestly higher.  Big snow tonight in midwest headed to east coast Friday.  Volatility as an asset class:

FuelCell (FCEL) is up $0.71 to $4.64 in the premarket on a Q1 loss narrowing on gains in product sales drove the power-equipment makers overall revenue higher. March call option implied volatility is at 175, April is at 150, July is at 133; compared to its 26-week average of 93.

Dick’s Sporting (DKS) is higher by $0.67 to $55 on Q4 profit rising 6.9% on an increase in sales. March call option implied volatility is at 39, April is at 29, June is at 26; compared to its 26-week average of 28.

Boyd Gaming (BYD) is up $1.83 to $13.63 in the premarket on Elliott Associates LP disclosing a 5% stake. Overall option implied volatility of 52 is near its 26-week average of 54.

iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures (VXX) is recently up 21c to 43.92 in the premarket.

CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) at 14.20, compared to its 10-day moving average of 14.25 and its 50-day moving average of 14.63 cboe.com/VIX

SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) is flat, $188.16, as investors wait and watch the geopolitical events in Ukraine play out, on growing global growth uncertainty.
