On Thursday, May 29, 2014, CBOE will list half-point strikes in CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) options. The half-point strikes will be listed in the near-term expiration month of June and in the strike price range of 10 to 15 (i.e. 10.5, 11.5, 12.5, 13.5 and 14.5 strikes).
CBOE will maintain half-point strikes, as described above, in the near-term expiration month on a continual basis. On Wednesday, May 28, 2014, the complete list of half-point strikes being added in VIX can be found at http://www.cboe.com/tradtool/DailyNewListings.aspx
The adding of half-point strikes is something customers have asked for, especially in the low-volatility environment. Hopefully this will give traders and investors more choice of strike prices in the front month. VXST already has half-point strikes.
Please refer to CBOE Rule 24.9.12 for more information about strike price intervals for Index Options.
