AFX Announces Liftoff

On Tuesday, CBOE and Environmental Financial Products (EFP) announced plans to launch the American Financial Exchange (AFX) on Friday, December 11.  AFX is a new electronic marketplace for small and mid-sized banks to lend and borrow short-term funds.

Expanded Connectivity with PULSE

On Wednesday, CBOE announced it has joined with LiquidityBook, a financial services technology company with expertise in designing global Financial Information Exchange (FIX) platforms, to expand connectivity to CBOE’s PULSe trader workstations.  This new technology will provide direct electronic access to brokers and may create efficiencies in execution, clearing and compliance.

The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) was edging higher by week’s end, as the specter of an interest rate hike in December continued to loom over the market.  All eyes remain fixed on the upcoming December 17 FOMC meeting.
